Fitness Begins By Being Honest With Yourself

Are you are being honest about how you're living? Can you say you're living a healthy lifestyle or are you in complete denial of unhealthy habits?

I wish I could see a show of hands and have a world-wide workshop to discuss this issue. Standing in your truth has everything to do with being able to become a healthy person. This can really be applied to all areas of your life -  relationships, careers, fitness, and overall health. Being honest with yourself is the first step to change those things weighing you down physically and emotionally.

Lying about your life is often accompanied by bitterness, anger, blaming others, defensiveness, unhappiness, and a clear nonacceptance of responsibility.

On the other side of that comes acceptance of your truth. This means you want and are working to be a healthier, happier person by implementing positive daily changes. You are honest and are taking responsibility for your health. You are on your way to adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Each of us has a responsibility to stand in our truth and make the choice to go one way or the other.

  • Do you want to be healthy or not?
  • Do you want to continue in self-destructive behaviors or not?
  • Do you want to be happy or not?
  • Do you want to be an honest person or not?

Being honest with yourself opens the door to trusting yourself and your actions. If you have not been honest, this usually flows into other relationships and inability to share your truth with others. This behavior closes you off to vital support you may need to get healthy.

We can only live in chronic dishonesty for so long before consequences start happening including illness, depression, broken relationships, loss of friends, and even disengagement of family members. A healthy person exhibits a happy outlook on life and is willing to share their experiences freely with others. They don't care about what others may think about past mistakes and are sincere about helping others because they have been there. The person who chooses to remain in denial continues to show a negative view of life, self, and people around them, and often repel any meaningful relationships.

The consequences of not standing in your truth and living a healthy life can certainly be harsh. When you're alone is when it may feel the most difficult. The key to health and happiness is to start being honest with you and others. Living a healthy life will take the action of standing in your truth and acceptance of that truth. It will also take making daily choices to move your body and mind in a healthy direction.

Often times, the emotional side of fitness is neglected because we're all striving for outward changes. We fail to see how one can't exist without the other. Health and fitness encompass the whole person not just the shell of the person. Are you being honest with yourself so you can adopt a healthy life?
